Hur får man ett ehandelsbolag att växa? 2013 var ett ganska svagt år för oss på Headler. Vi gjorde förvisso en hel del bra saker, styrde upp struktur och kundservice bland annat, men vår tillväxt var ganska låg (hörlurar var också årets julklapp året innan dvs 2012, vilket såklart drev upp försäljningen oväntat bra det året). Försäljningen ökade dock inte 2013, mycket på grund av att vi hade fokus på annat håll (genom att starta startupbolaget Osom, nu sålt, och på att satsa hårdare på vår webbyrå Grebban). När vi sålde Osom kände vi, nu måste vi börja växa igen. Så mycket outnyttjad potential och tusen möjligheter.
Och växt har vi, särskilt i Q2. Exempelvis, över 100% tillväxt omsättningsmässigt mot samma månad förra året (då var det en av våra bästa månader under hela förra året ska sägas också) och över 100% mot förra månaden (maj alltså).
Det intressanta med ehandel är att det sällan är en eller två saker som gör att man växer, utan många småsaker. När vi började lägga upp en taktik för hur vi ska se till att Headler växer hade vi många idéer på hur detta skulle gå till. Det visade sig vara en stor blandning av alla dessa som fungerade. Här är sammanfattning över några saker vi gjort som fungerat.
Sortiment
- Fler varumärken, vi närmar oss snart 50 st! (bla Jaybird, Steelseries, Sudio)
- Fler produkter (även med större prisspann)
- Bättre på specifika kategorier (hörlurar för barn, träningshörlurar, hörlurar för gaming etc)
- Nya produktsegment (högtalare, aktivitetsmätare, t.o.m. en drone!)
- Bättre lagerhållning, varje produkt det står ”slut” på är en potentiellt förlorad order
Kort och gott, vi har utökat snabbt och fortsätter göra så. För att ha möjlighet till att göra detta jobbar vi i många fall med ”on demand”-sortiment, dvs vi skeppar direkt från leverantör á la dropshipping eller helt enkelt köper in från resp leverantör först när någon beställt produkten. På så sätt kan vi utöka sortimentet snabbt utan att ta så mycket lagerrisk. En viktig lärdom från detta är hur viktigt det är att kommunicera leveranstid. På de produkter vi inte har i vårt egna lager skriver vi alltid längre leveranstid på redan på produktnivå, för att skapa rätt förväntningar på kunderna.
Ny betalningsleverantör
- Vi bytte till Klarna Checkout 1 maj
Vi har varit nöjda med våra tidigare betalningsleverantörer Payson, Sveawebpay och Paypal men just nu är Klarna Checkout den absolut bästa betalningsflödet på den svenska marknaden (särskilt för mobilen). Och yes, konverteringen har ökat av det. Enda nackdelen är att de idag inte har stöd för företagsköp. Tills detta är löst har vi en beställningssida för företag separat (via epost).
Aktiv prissättning
- Reviderat priserna oftare och mer aktiva på prisjämförelsesajterna
Något Niclas Heurlin mfl brukar prata om värdet av dynamisk prissättning. I många fall kan man vinna ordrar eller få in kunder på att vara smart och lägga sig rätt prismässigt. Historiskt sett har vi varit ganska dåliga på detta och reviderat priserna ganska sällan. Nu har vi börjat jobba med aktiv prissättning. Inte dynamisk, för vi har inget system eller avancerade regler kring det (som t.ex. Enferno har), men vi ändrar priserna lite oftare. I gengäld har vi kraftigt ökat vår försäljning via prisjämförelsesajter som Prisjakt och Pricerunner.
Nyhetsbrev
- Skicka nyhetsbrev oftare
Under våren märkte vi en tydlig korrelation mellan de veckor vi skickade nyhetsbrev och inte. Försäljningen ökade alltid mer de veckorna. Det var inte det att nyhetsbrevet nödvändigtvis gav jättemånga ordrar som vi kunde härleda till det men vi blev top-of-mind för folk. Sedan dess har vi skickat nyhetsbrev mycket mer kontinuerligt, mellan 2 och 6 gånger per månad. Några lärdomar av detta har varit att har man ett riktigt bra erbjudande (t.ex. 20% rabatt) så ger det mycket sämre resultat att bara skicka ut det i ett enda nyhetsbrev. Effekten blir mångdubblad genom att skicka påminnelsemail om erbjudandet t.ex. 1 dag innan det går ut.
Google Adwords
- Börjat jobba med Google Adwords
Historiskt sett har vi inte jobbat med Google Adwords alls, vilket är ganska otroligt med tanke på hur viktigt det är för många andra ehandlare. Vi har testat det några korta perioder men i extremt liten skala. Under våren har vi börjat testa oss fram med googleannonsering och optimerat oss fram till att få det att fungera ganska bra. Fortfarande är sökmotoroptimering med de organiska resultaten mycket viktigare för oss (t.ex. en 1a position på ordet hörlurar) men cpc blir allt viktigare. Också för att kunna få in ordrar på nya märken och modeller snabbare, innan vi hunnit få de att ranka bra i organiska resultatet.
Sociala medier
- Posta på Facebook kontinuerligt
- Blogga kontinuerligt (med internlänkar)
Det är svårt att se en tydlig effekt av sociala medier men helt klart finns den, särskilt för att hålla oss ”top-of-mind” till befintliga kunder. Troligtvis ökar vår trovärdighet ganska markant genom att vara duktiga på sociala medier, vilket har gjort det till ett viktigt vapen i tillväxttänket. Vi jobbar med vår egen blogg i någon slags ”content marketing”-anda men den är i mångt och mycket även ett seo-verktyg, där vi kan få internlänkar till nya märken och modeller snabbt. När vi gör våra nyhetsbrev, återanvänder vi innehållet till bloggen. En sak vi märkt när vi sponsrar inlägg på Facebook-sidan är att de ofta får bättre effekt om man fyller i att den ska synas i flera dagar. Man kan välja så de syns i flera dagar istället för en, så t.ex. de 50kr i budget man lagt på den posten sprids ut över 2-7 dagar.
Affiliateprogram
- Startat affiliateprogram
Ännu en sak vi inte haft igång fast vi vetat att vi borde är affiliateprogram. Tills nyss har vi inte jobbat med affiliates alls. Nu kör vi Adrecord (signa upp här) och har sett det sakta men säkert öka senaste tre månaderna. Det är fortfarande ganska små nivåer men i takt med att vi hittat några duktiga affiliates att jobba med börjar det ge resultat. Viktig lärdom här är att det krävs en hel del arbete för att hitta bra affiliates. Affiliateprogram är inget självspelande piano, även om det är en av de minst tidskrävande marknadsinsatserna.
Så för att sammanfatta…
Det är många olika saker som gjort att vi börjat växa ordentligt igen. Kortfattat kan man säga att allt åsyftar till dessa tre områden, som ju i sig självt kan sammanfattas i ”kunderbjudande”:
- Sortiment
- Trafik & Konvertering
- Attraktivitet
Vi har dock en lång resa kvar för att växa mer. Här är några fler saker som antagligen skulle göra att vi kan växa ännu mer i framtiden:
- Bättre sajt (framförallt interaktionsdesign och navigation)
- Göra sajten responsive
- Bättre SEO (mer länkar till sajten, fler och bättre landningssidor, bättre content)
- Bättre Adwordsoptimering (mer dynamiskt, automatiserat och aggressivt)
- Retargeting
Och under juli ska vi testa radioreklam i Stockholm för att se hur det fungerar. Spännande och lärorika tider!
